The Luckpenny

I spent the other evening learning an Irish concertina tune called The Luckpenny from a video on TradLessons.com . The musician in the video, Michael Eskin, had learned this traditional tune from a CD by the famous Irish accordionist Joe Burke.

And since my memory for music is less than stellar, I spent this morning transcribing the tune into "abc" notation which could then be reformatted in standard musical notation. The result is posted here on the "tune-o-tron" on Concertina.net.

Despite the silly name, the tune-o-tron is an excellent database of over 1000 traditional tunes, mostly Irish and English. You can print out the music in PDF form and also listen to each tune in MIDI form.
